For three hundred years, the Kingdom of Dravenor was built upon a single lie carefully repeated through generations. The people were taught that the Horned Serpents were monsters, creatures of destruction that once brought war and ruin to the world. They were told that King Magnus had ended the nightmare by destroying the last of their kind, saving humanity from extinction.

And tonight, the entire kingdom was celebrating that so-called victory.

Fireworks exploded across the sky above the capital, painting the night in gold and red. Music echoed through every street, filled with cheers, songs, and pride. Nobles raised their glasses in celebration, soldiers marched in ceremonial honor, and the name of King Magnus was spoken like that of a savior.

But far beneath the celebration, something was waking up.

Deep under the foundations of the royal fortress, Kael stood in silence, staring at the burning mark of a horned serpent glowing on the back of his hand. In his arms, a young Horned Serpent trembled softly, fragile and small, nothing like the monsters from the stories.

And yet only hours ago, that very creature had shown him the truth.

Humans were the betrayers.

And the Horned Serpents were never the enemy.

Suddenly, alarm bells began ringing across the capital.

Outside the hidden chamber, thousands of royal soldiers were being deployed. King Magnus already knew. He knew the last Horned Serpent was still alive. And he would not allow that truth to survive another night.

“We have to leave,” Mara said urgently, pulling Kael back.

But before they could move—

BOOOOM.

The ground itself shattered.

The stone walls of the stable cracked violently. Horses screamed in panic. Dust filled the air as something deep beneath the earth began to awaken.

Then came the sound.

A roar.

Not human. Not beast.

Something ancient.

Something enormous.

Mara froze.

“No…” she whispered.

Kael turned to her, confused. “What is that?”

Her hands trembled as she looked toward the northern mountains.

“It has awakened.”

“What has?”

“The King of the Horned Serpents.”

Kael’s blood ran cold.

Because according to legend… the Serpent King had been dead for thousands of years.

But Mara shook her head slowly.

“No.”

“It never died.”

“It was only sleeping.”

At that exact moment—

A massive golden pillar of light erupted from the distant mountains, tearing through the clouds like a blade through darkness.

The earth trembled across hundreds of miles.

In the royal palace, King Magnus dropped his goblet. It shattered instantly against the marble floor.

He recognized that light.

And for the first time in decades…

fear returned to his face.
“No…” Magnus whispered, stumbling backward. “It cannot be…”

But it was already too late.

On the horizon, the sky darkened as something impossibly large emerged. At first, it looked like a shadow against the clouds. Then it grew. And grew. Until it swallowed the horizon itself.

The kingdom fell into panic.

Civilians screamed. Soldiers froze. Even the wind seemed to stop moving.

It was not a dragon.

It was not a beast.

It was the Horned Serpent King.

Larger than castles. Older than kingdoms. Its golden eyes burned like twin suns, and its black horns tore through the clouds as it moved through the sky.

One single movement of its wings triggered a storm that swept across the entire valley.

No one dared to speak.

No one dared to move.

Because the myth had returned.

But what happened next shattered even that fear.

The colossal serpent did not attack.

It did not destroy.

Instead, it descended slowly toward Kael.

And in front of hundreds of thousands of witnesses…

it bowed.

It knelt.

Like a knight recognizing its rightful sovereign.

The young Horned Serpent in Kael’s arms lifted its head weakly.

And then it called out.

A sound that echoed through the world itself.

At that moment, something unimaginable happened.

Every Horned Serpent that had been sleeping beneath the earth, across oceans, deserts, and mountains… awakened.

Roars erupted from beneath the world.

The sea trembled.

The sands shifted.

The frozen peaks cracked open.

Mara looked at Kael through tears.

“At last…”

“The true heir has returned.”

Kael tightened his grip on the small serpent in his arms.

And slowly lifted his gaze toward the walls of the capital, where King Magnus stood frozen in horror.

For the first time in his life…

Magnus understood the truth.

He had not killed the last Horned Serpent.

He had only awakened their king.
