Chapter 31 - BUILDING THE TIMELINE

Back at the dealership later that afternoon, the conference room had begun to resemble a research library rather than a corporate office.
Whiteboards covered the walls.
Maps hung beside engineering diagrams.
Photographs, letters, notebooks, inspection reports, and meeting minutes were carefully organized into chronological order.
Ryan stepped back to admire the growing display.
"It's incredible."
Samuel looked around the room.
"Not because it's dramatic."
Ryan nodded.
"Because it fits."
Every new document supported the previous one.
Dates matched.
Signatures aligned.
Technical revisions appeared in exactly the same sequence described in Martin's notebooks.
Richard pinned another inspection report onto the timeline.
"The evidence doesn't rely on one witness."
"It relies on consistency."
Helen smiled.
"That's how truth usually survives."
Daniel slowly walked along the wall, reading the timeline from beginning to end.
He stopped before a photograph showing his father laughing with several younger apprentices.
One of them couldn't have been older than eighteen.
Daniel looked toward Thomas.
"Do you know who he is?"
Thomas adjusted his glasses before smiling.
"Of course."
"He was the youngest apprentice in the factory."
Samuel noticed something in Thomas's expression.
"You know where he is now."
Thomas nodded.
"I spoke to him last Christmas."
Daniel looked surprised.
"He's still alive?"
"He certainly is."
"What does he do?"
Thomas smiled.
"He's an engineer."
"He still carries the notebook your father gave him on his first day."
Daniel looked at the timeline once more.
Every person they found added another piece to the story.
Not because anyone was trying to rewrite history...
But because ordinary people had quietly preserved their memories, documents, and values for decades.
Samuel uncapped a marker and wrote one new heading across the top of the whiteboard.

People Who Chose Integrity
Underneath it, another empty line waited for the next name to be added.
