Chapter 51 - THE RED DOOR

Gabriel unlocked a metal cabinet and removed a thick blue binder.

Across its cover, faded silver letters remained barely visible.

ISOLATION WING — RED DOOR

Arthur's hands began trembling.

"I thought every record from that wing was destroyed."

"So did everyone else," Gabriel replied.

He placed the binder on the table but did not open it.

"Because that's exactly what we wanted them to believe."

Daniel looked toward the reinforced entrance.

Distant echoes drifted through the tunnels.

Metal doors opening.

Boots striking concrete.

"They're getting closer."

Gabriel nodded.

"Then you need to understand one thing before they arrive."

He finally opened the binder.

The first page contained a floor plan of the Orion estate.

Near the eastern corridor was a room marked only by a red rectangle.

RED DOOR

Beneath it, handwritten by Donovan, were eight words:

Only one child came back through this door.

Silence settled over the room.

Alex stared at the sentence.

"What does that mean?"

Gabriel did not answer immediately.

Instead, he turned to the next page.

A class photograph appeared.

Twelve children stood together.

Alex recognized his younger self immediately.

He also recognized Noah.

But something else froze him in place.

Every child's face had a name beneath it.

Except one.

The child standing between Ethan and Noah had no name.

Only a handwritten symbol.

The same white circle crossed by a vertical line that marked the uniforms of the tactical team now descending through the facility.

Before anyone could speak, every light in the chamber flickered.

An emergency speaker hidden in the ceiling came alive.

"Perimeter breach confirmed."

Then a second voice replaced the automated announcement.

It belonged to Elias Voss.

"They've reached Level D."

A brief pause followed.

Then Voss added in a tone far calmer than before:

"Gabriel... if you're still alive... it's time to tell Ethan the truth about the third child."
