The rescue team silently examined the replacement files.
Each documented how one individual had quietly taken another person's place.
New identities.
Forged employment records.
Altered medical histories.
Even fingerprints.
Samuel looked sick.
"They've been replacing people for decades."
Elias turned another page.
Then stopped.
His expression changed.
The file in his hands displayed a familiar face.
Rescue Team Member – Aaron Mills.
Everyone looked toward Aaron.
The young rescuer frowned.
"What?"
Elias handed him the file.
Aaron's hands trembled as he read.
The document claimed he had joined the rescue service only three years earlier under a newly created identity.
"It isn't true."
"I grew up here."
Samuel looked uncertain.
"Did you?"
Aaron froze.
Childhood memories suddenly felt strangely incomplete.
His adoption records.
His school transfer.
The years before he turned seven.
Everything became blurry.
Henry gently placed a hand on his shoulder.
"This file doesn't prove you're guilty."
"It proves someone wanted you here."
