Chapter 47 - The Room of Memories

The chamber beyond the vault was far larger than anyone had imagined.
Emergency lights slowly illuminated rows of steel shelves stretching into the distance. Thousands of carefully labeled boxes filled the room, each preserved in climate-controlled conditions.
Photographs.
Letters.
Audio tapes.
Video reels.
Personal journals.
Every box represented someone's life.
Someone's secret.
At the center of the room stood an old wooden desk.
A reel-to-reel tape recorder rested on its surface.
The machine was already running.
Jacob's voice was coming from it.
"If you've reached this room, Captain, then Cross allowed you to."
Elias stopped walking.
"So this was recorded."
The tape continued.
"I knew he'd never destroy this place."
"People like him don't erase history."
"They collect it."
Elias looked around.
Jacob had been right.
The room wasn't a treasure vault.
May you like
It was an archive of stolen lives.
