Chapter 29 - Noah's First Day at Preschool

Summer slowly faded into autumn once again.

Noah, now older and more confident, was preparing for his first official day at preschool.

He insisted on carrying his own tiny backpack.

Inside were crayons, a lunchbox, a water bottle, and his faithful stuffed elephant tucked safely beside everything else.

Emma knelt to straighten his jacket.

"Ready?"

Noah grinned.

"I'm ready!"

The preschool classroom buzzed with excitement.

Children explored puzzles, books, and colorful building blocks while teachers welcomed nervous parents.

Emma couldn't help noticing the classroom itself.

Every shelf was clearly labeled.

Heavy furniture had been secured to the walls.

Toy bins displayed age recommendations.

Broken toys were nowhere to be seen.

The lead teacher noticed Emma looking around.

"We inspect everything every Friday afternoon."

Emma smiled.

"I appreciate that."

The teacher laughed.

"I've heard your story from Dr. Harris."

Emma blinked.

"You have?"

"He spoke during our childcare safety training."

Emma realized once again how far Noah's experience had traveled.

During pickup that afternoon, Noah ran toward her carrying a finger painting covered in bright blue and green swirls.

"I made this!"

"It's beautiful."

He proudly explained every brushstroke during the drive home.

Emma listened carefully, smiling the entire time.

The frightened toddler who had once cried for hours without explanation had become an energetic little boy eager to describe every adventure.

Watching him grow reminded Emma that difficult memories didn't erase joyful ones.

Instead, they often made the joyful moments even more meaningful.
