Chapter 41 - An Afternoon at Grandma's House

Daniel's parents invited the family over for Sunday lunch.
The house felt as welcoming as ever, filled with the smell of homemade soup and fresh bread.
Noah hurried toward the living room where a box of old toys had been waiting since Daniel was a child.
Wooden trains.
Plastic dinosaurs.
Metal cars.
Building blocks faded by time.
Grandpa smiled.
"I used to play with these."
Noah carefully picked up a small toy airplane.
One wing wobbled slightly.
Instead of running off with it, he walked back to his grandfather.
"This one needs fixing."
Grandpa examined it closely.
"I hadn't noticed."
Together they carried the airplane to the workbench in the garage.
Grandpa explained each repair as he worked.
"This screw has become loose after many years."
"So we tighten it?"
"Exactly."
Noah watched every step with complete fascination.
After tightening the tiny screw, Grandpa tested the wings several times.
"There."
He handed the airplane back.
"Now it's ready for another adventure."
Noah smiled proudly.
At lunch, Grandpa told everyone what had happened.
"I've repaired toys all my life."
"But today my grandson reminded me to inspect them before anyone asked."
Emma looked across the table at Noah, who was happily dipping bread into his soup.

She realized he no longer viewed safety as a list of rules.
To him, it had simply become part of everyday life.
