Excitement spread through the robotics lab.
Version 15 stood fully assembled on the workbench.
The redesign introduced a predictive stabilization mechanism unlike anything the team had built before.
It wasn't perfect.
But it consistently outperformed every earlier prototype during testing.
Coach Daniels checked the competition schedule one final time.
"Bus leaves at seven tomorrow morning."
Emma reviewed the equipment list.
Batteries.
Tools.
Backup components.
Engineering documentation.
Everything appeared ready.
Alex performed one final outdoor trial.
The prototype crossed wet pavement.
Loose gravel.
Sharp inclines.
Narrow turns.
It stumbled once.
Recovered immediately.
He smiled.
"It finally feels natural."
Back inside the lab, Superintendent Grant arrived carrying an envelope.
"The organizers sent this."
Alex opened it carefully.
Inside was an official statement.
After reviewing all available evidence, the competition committee concluded that the leaked photograph did not affect his eligibility.
Furthermore, they had determined that the published image contained insufficient technical detail to compromise the originality of the project.
Emma exhaled with relief.
Coach Daniels simply smiled.

Digital analysts had finally identified the device used to upload the photograph.
The account had not been created from inside Westbrook High.
