Chapter 52 - The Woman in the Blue Coat
While the team cataloged the lighthouse archive, security cameras installed outside the property captured an unexpected visitor.
She made no attempt to hide.
An elderly woman wearing a long blue coat calmly approached the entrance before stopping exactly where the cameras could see her.
She neither knocked nor called out.
Instead, she placed a sealed envelope on the stone steps.
Then she walked away.
By the time officers reached the entrance...
...she had disappeared.
Inside the envelope rested a black-and-white photograph.
It showed eight younger volunteers standing together after a flood rescue.
Harold immediately recognized the image.
"We never kept copies of this."
Catherine looked closer.
"Wait."
She pointed toward the far left edge.
A ninth figure stood partially outside the frame.
Only half of the person's face remained visible.
Samuel frowned.
"I've never noticed that."
Harold hadn't either.
The photographer had unintentionally captured someone watching from a distance.
On the back of the photograph, written in blue ink, appeared another message.
> Some witnesses choose not to enter history.
Arthur quietly whispered,
"She wants us to find the photographer."
Elena looked up.
"You think the woman delivered a clue?"
Arthur nodded.
"Not a clue."
