Chapter 23 - The Envelope from the Safe
That night, Daniel finally placed the sealed envelope on the dining table.
Lily sat beside him.
Samuel activated a camera to document everything before the seal was broken.
Daniel carefully opened it.
Inside was a handwritten letter.
No signature.
Only neatly typed pages.
The first sentence made everyone fall silent.
If you are reading this, your return happened sooner than expected.
Samuel exchanged a glance with Daniel.
The letter continued.
The money was never the true objective.
The house was only one piece.
Daniel turned the page.
A map unfolded across the table.
Several addresses had been marked with red circles.
The abandoned warehouse.
A law office.
A storage facility.
And one final location Daniel had never seen before.
An isolated estate outside the city.
At the bottom of the map, someone had written one final instruction by hand.
Do not go there alone.
Before anyone could say another word, Samuel's phone vibrated.
He answered.
His expression hardened immediately.
"What happened?"
A long pause.
Then he slowly lowered the phone.
"The investigators searched Rebecca's office."
"They found it completely empty."
Daniel frowned.
"Empty?"
Samuel nodded.
