Chapter 94 - Rebecca's Final Route

Officer Martinez called Samuel just after midnight.

"We found something in Rebecca's abandoned vehicle."

An hour later, the evidence arrived underground under police escort.

It wasn't money.

It wasn't another recording.

It was a road atlas.

Nearly every page looked ordinary.

Until Samuel noticed tiny pencil dots scattered across different highways.

When connected...

The dots formed a route.

Beginning at the Carter house.

Passing through Blackstone Quarry.

Ending at an isolated lighthouse several hours away.

Daniel frowned.

"There isn't even a harbor nearby."

Officer Martinez nodded.

"The lighthouse has been inactive for decades."

Inside the atlas rested one more item.

A fuel receipt dated only four days before Rebecca disappeared.

On the back she had written six hurried words.

Don't let them reach Lily first.

Daniel read the sentence again.

She hadn't written:

Don't let Lily reach them.

She had written:

Don't let them reach Lily.

Samuel noticed the difference immediately.

"She wasn't warning herself."

"No."

Daniel folded the receipt.

"She was trying to warn someone else."

Officer Martinez looked toward Daniel.

"We've already sent officers to the lighthouse."

Daniel slowly shook his head.

"If Rebecca left this intentionally..."

May you like

"...I don't think we're the first people heading there."
