Samuel immediately searched every immigration database he could legally access.
"David Cross."
Thousands of results appeared.
None matched the passport number printed on the boarding pass.
Then Samuel noticed something unusual.
The passport number itself.
"It belongs to Daniel."
Daniel looked up.
"What?"
"The number is yours."
"The name isn't."
Silence filled the room.
Someone had altered the passenger record without changing the passport identification.
Samuel continued digging.
Airline manifests.
Employment records.
Visa applications.
One file refused to load.
Restricted.
Government archive.
Daniel frowned.
"Why would my employment file be restricted?"
Samuel leaned back.
"Either someone requested classification..."
"...or someone powerful wanted the original records hidden."
Lily quietly unfolded another document from the crate.
It was a hotel reservation.
Made one week before Daniel officially arrived overseas.
The reservation had already been checked into.
Someone had reached the country...
Using Daniel's identity...
Before Daniel himself landed.
