Chapter 73 - The Successor File

Margaret erased the entire evidence wall.

For several seconds, no one understood why.

Months of work had just disappeared beneath a blank white surface.

Arthur looked at her in surprise.

"You've lost something?"

Margaret picked up a marker.

"No."

"I've been looking backward for too long."

She drew a single circle in the center.

Inside it she wrote two words.

Current Successor

Everyone stared.

Samuel slowly understood.

"We've been investigating who built the system."

Margaret nodded.

"But if the system is still alive..."

She drew another circle.

"...then someone inside this company is already being prepared to continue it."

The room became quiet.

Instead of examining retired executives, Margaret requested personnel data for every manager promoted during the previous three years.

Age.

Education.

Mentors.

Transfer history.

Performance reviews.

Corporate training.

Within hours, analysts discovered something unusual.

Thirty-two recently promoted managers had attended different leadership programs.

Different instructors.

Different cities.

Yet each program used remarkably similar language.

"Future readiness."

"Cultural continuity."

"Adaptive influence."

Arthur frowned.

"I've seen those phrases before."

Linda answered immediately.

"They're in the revised leadership manual."

Margaret smiled faintly.

"And before that, they appeared in Volume I."

The terminology had survived twenty years.

Not copied word for word.

Refined.

Modernized.

But unmistakably descended from the same philosophy.

One analyst overlaid the mentorship chain with the new promotion data.

A single young executive appeared at the center more often than anyone else.

Her name was Olivia Chen.

Thirty-four.

Vice President of Strategic Integration.

Fastest executive promotion in company history.

Margaret quietly circled the name.

"We're not accusing her."

She paused.

May you like

"But I want to know who has been teaching her."
