Chapter 80 - The Invitation

Near midnight, a courier arrived at Margaret's hotel.
No signature was required.
The envelope contained no return address.
Inside lay a single cream-colored card embossed with a dark blue compass identical to the symbol found on Volume I.
There were only two sentences.
> You have spent months studying our history.
> Perhaps it is time to hear it from those who lived it.
No location.
No date.
Only a metallic token secured beneath the card.
Arthur immediately recognized the engraving.
"It isn't a coin."
"What is it?" Margaret asked.
He turned it over.
"It opens executive railway lockers from the old central station."
Samuel's expression changed instantly.
"I haven't thought about those lockers in years."
"They're still there?" Olivia asked.
Arthur nodded.
"Most were sealed when the station was renovated."
Margaret held the token beneath the light.
Along its edge, almost invisible, someone had engraved a tiny sequence of numbers.
Locker 214.
The legal counsel immediately suggested involving federal authorities.
Margaret understood the risk.
If the invitation was genuine, someone wanted contact.
If it was a trap, someone wanted control.
She slipped the token into an evidence pouch.
Then looked at Arthur.
"We've spent months uncovering hidden rooms built by people who wanted to remain invisible."
She paused.
"Tonight..."
"...one of them may have decided to step into the light."

Outside, rain began falling over the city.
Inside the investigation room, every member of the team understood that opening Locker 214 might reveal another archive—or it might reveal the first living person willing to explain why the Network had survived across generations without ever appearing in a single official history.
