Chapter 78 - The Mentor's Chair
While the investigation continued upstairs, Olivia Chen wandered into the abandoned chamber beneath headquarters.
She had received Arthur's permission to review historical leadership materials for herself.
Near the conference table stood one chair unlike the others.
Its leather upholstery remained in unusually good condition.
The wood showed almost no wear.
As if no one had ever dared sit there.
Curious, Olivia pulled it back slightly.
A folded card slipped onto the floor.
Its paper had become brittle with age.
She carefully unfolded it.
Only three words were written inside.
Reserved for Mentor
Olivia immediately contacted Margaret.
Within minutes the room filled again.
Arthur examined the chair.
"I've seen this design before."
"Where?" Margaret asked.
"My father's study."
The answer surprised everyone.
Arthur explained that his father, the company's original founder, had once owned an identical chair imported from England.
Only two had ever been purchased.
One remained in the family home.
The second had supposedly disappeared decades earlier.
Samuel slowly looked around the chamber.
"So whoever used this room intentionally placed the founder's chair here."
Margaret nodded.
"Not as decoration."
She rested her hand lightly on the chair.
"As symbolism."
The room had never been designed for ordinary meetings.
